Referral Policy

The ONEOK Employee Referral Program is a program that rewards current employees who recommend talent from outside the company for employment. It is designed to provide financial incentive for employees who actively identify candidates within their professional and social networks. The incentive amounts are as follows: 

  • $1,500 taxable incentive for referring an eligible candidate who is selected for and accepts a position with ONEOK, payable after the referred candidate reaches 90 days of active employment.
  • $2,500 taxable incentive for referring an eligible candidate who is selected for and accepts a position in North Dakota or Montana, payable after the referred candidate reaches 90 days of active employment.
  • $5,000 taxable incentive for referring an eligible candidate who is selected for and accepts a position deemed as a critical need in North Dakota or Montana, payable in two 90-day increments after the referred candidate reaches six months of active employment. 

Current critical need positions located in North Dakota and Montana include the following:

  • Manager-level positions;
  • Lead or senior plant or pipeline operators;
  • Lead or senior mechanics; or
  • Lead or senior instrumentation and electrical technicians. 

All full-time, regular employees are eligible to participate in this program and receive a referral incentive, except:

  • Officers;
  • Contingent workers;
  • Interns;
  • Hiring managers for the specific position; and
  • Any other employee directly involved in the hiring decision for the specific position. 

Former employees, current or former interns, trainees,contingent workers, temporary staff or consultants who have worked with ONEOK are not eligible to be referred.

General steps to refer a candidate are as follows:

  1. Go to oneok.com/careers and log in using your ONEOK log in information, which will verify you as a current employee. (If you are on the ONEOK network, you will automatically be logged in to your account.)
  2. Search current job opportunities or enter the Requisition Identification Number (REQ ID#) and select the job you want to refer.
  3. Click on the job and find the "Recommend This Job" button.
  4. Click "Recommend This Job" and you will see a referral link.
  5. Highlight the link, copy and paste it into an email and send it to the person you are referring.
  6. When your referral clicks on the link, the system will automatically identify you as the person who referred him/her.
  7. In order to receive payment for your referral, the following must be completed:
    1. Your referral must complete the application and submit it to the position.
    2. Once your referral’s application is submitted, you will receive an email notification asking some questions regarding your referral. You must reply to the email and answer the questions to complete the referral process.
  8. Human Resources will be notified of the referral and monitor progress should he/she be hired. You will receive notification once your referral is hired or declined for further consideration regarding the position to which he/she applied.
  9. If the referred candidate is hired and meets referral program requirements (employed 90 days or six months, respectively), you will be paid the eligible tax incentive.
