Job Summary

Performs activities related to verifying, maintaining, electronically filing and/or preparing regulatory documents.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Utilize computers to research, compile and draft documents from written and/or verbal instructions, maintaining strict confidence at all times, that may include but not be limited to:

    • Tariff filings

    • Rate case testimony

    • Discovery responses

    • Regulatory agency correspondence

    • Regulatory compliance reports
  • Complete document review, document updates and related writing for the purpose of providing support to the regulatory affairs department. Such writing may include but is not limited to, maintenance of schedules and tables documenting the status of regulatory filings, document reviews and document updates, drafting and sending emails and reports to update department members and customers of the status of document reviews and updates.

  • Review documentation for compliance, tariff and regulatory report filings for accuracy and completeness in compliance with desk documents and/or regulatory agency instructions. Evaluate and make suggestions for process improvements that increase efficiencies and effectiveness of compliance, tariff and regulatory report filing activities including updates as needed to desk documents.

  • Submit regulatory filings electronically or in hard copy to regulatory agencies and maintain documentation and procedural schedules related to filings.

  • Research and retrieve documents from various on line and printed regulatory agency or legal sources for relevant regulatory decisions, legal articles, and general regulatory activities.

  • Assist with organization and maintenance of regulatory affairs department document files for tariffs, regulatory compliance, regulatory agency audits, rate cases or regulatory agency actions.

  • Assist in compiling, editing and summarizing regulatory department documents as directed.  Perform document management through internal reviews and external legal reviews.

  • Prepare check requests for payments to regulatory commissions.

  • Prepare documents for mailing and manage mailing of physical documents as required for regulatory activities and submittals to regulatory commissions.

  • Prepare correspondence and reports.

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

Associate degree as a professional legal assistant/paralegal or an equivalent combination of formal education, legal or regulatory affairs support experience, and the following job-related knowledge or experience:

  • Experience compiling, editing and managing regulatory documents such as testimony, transmittal letters, tariffs, and discovery responses or requests.

  • Experience filing regulatory documents with Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and state regulatory commissions.

  • Experience researching, reading, interpreting, editing, and/or extracting information from on‑line and printed regulatory agency sources including commission orders or decisions, statutes, legal articles, and governmental regulations.

  • Experience analyzing documents for attorney/client privilege and compiling, editing and managing documents in response to discovery requests and inquiries from regulatory agencies.

  • Experience organizing and maintaining rate case, regulatory audit and/or tariff document files.

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including computers, photocopiers, and facsimile machines.

  • Experience with computer applications including but not limited to:

    • Microsoft Excel, Word, Access, SharePoint, PowerPoint and Outlook

    • TariffShark
    • SiteCore
  • Application of basic arithmetic: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division, decimals and percentages.

  • Experience and/or training related to:

    • Regulatory and/or legal terminology

    • Generally accepted standards for grammar and punctuation
  • Experience advising, assisting, and communicating effectively.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

  • Communicate and/or exchange information and instructions.

Certification and Licensing

  • None.

Physical Requirements

  • Lift or move objects weighing up to 10 pounds 3-5 times daily.

  • Ability to operate office tools and equipment required.

Visual Requirements

  • Sufficient to perform job duties.
