Job Summary

Assists in control of commodity and operational risk across all business units.

 

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Analyze and/or prepare reports and records related to daily profit and loss (P/L) variance of trading books and Value at Risk (VaR), providing management with explanations of major variances.

  • Update and validate market price curves on a daily basis.

  • Monitor trading and marketing activities to ensure adherence to corporate Trading Policy.

  • Utilize the Risk System software to maintain all physical and financial obligations and prepare marked-to-market position reports.

  • Work with trading, accounting, and contract administration employees and management to ensure accurate processing of all financial trading activities.

  • Analyze, prepare, maintain, and coordinate information including but not limited to:

    • Storage and transportation contract risk models

    • Mark-to-market analysis for all risk positions

    • Supporting documentation for compliance reports of accounting standards

  • Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.

  • Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

 

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, mathematics or related field; prefer MS Finance with Risk Management emphasis.  Job-related experience as follows:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform detailed financial analysis on trading activities.

  • R/MATLAB/SAS or other statistical programming language preferred.  

  • Working knowledge of risk measures.

  • Application of math and algebra.

  • Experience in use and function of office equipment applicable to position including use of various mainframe and microcomputer applications and related software.

  • Demonstrated ability and/or training related to:

    • Derivates contracts

    • Accounting standards and supporting documentation

    • Risk models

    • Trading policies and practices 
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret financial statements, professional accounting standards, trading policies, contracts, agreements, computer printouts, industry publications, reports, and correspondence.

  • Demonstrated ability to research, analyze, and prepare reports and make recommendations.

  • Demonstrated ability to develop information and to make presentations to groups and individuals.

  • Experience interacting and communicating effectively.

  • Communicate and/or exchange information or instruction.

  • Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Certification and Licensing

  • None required.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to operate office tools and equipment required.

Visual Requirements

  • Sufficient to perform job duties.
